Wade Malone has returned to the harsh poverty of his Indiana home of Taylorville to hide out from his recent past deeds, and within one day he places his daughter, Mattie, on display in a most humiliating, public way. This is not the first abuse seventeen-year-old Emma Connor has witnessed, and this violence triggers her and her best friend Jolene to seek revenge on Wade. Fortunately, for Emma, she lives under the care of her Grandma Rose who teaches her the ways of a healer––things that Grandma learned from a Mayan shaman years ago.Grandma recognizes that Emma is to come into her own understanding and greater wisdom with their town’s dark forces of violence and power.
Along their way to retribution, Emma and Jolene suffer the difficult and deadly consequences of karmic law, where fighting violence with violence only produces more violence. It is only when Emma engages her extraordinary healing practices that she is able to discover the unexpected depths in herself, what it means to have compassion for another, and what it takes to break the cycle of violence.

Coming in Summer 2024
Taylorville, an Appalachian town with a raw way of life, is the only world seventeen-year-old EMMA CONNER has ever known, but a world she and her friend JOLENE want to escape. Jolene’s ticket out of town is a scholarship to Florida State to pursue her dream, marine biology. She enrolls in an academic program on board an old-fashioned sailing ship, The SeaQuest. The tragedy of a family caught up in dark secrets shatters Jolene’s dream before her high school graduation. The challenge of having Jolene’s goals ripped away is more than Emma can bear. Emma assumes Jolene’s identity to live out her friend’s dream on board The SeaQuest.
Her seafaring journey opens Emma's eyes to the division between wealthy and poor. She faces the rejection and harassment from her peers. Through each predicament, Emma practices the spiritual teachings of her wise old grandma and discovers a new strength within herself. When a freak wave hits the SeaQuest, Emma learns the true value of her simple but honorable heritage: the power from her roots, and that what matters is what lives in her heart.
